Three people were killed by mass beating in the early hours of today as the people were suspecting them dacoit in Ilamdi area under Araihazar upazila in the district.
The deceased were identified as Mafizul Islam, 22, son of Sirajul Islam, hailed from Bastul area of Sonargaon upazila under Narayanganj district, Jahirul Islam, 27, son of Habibur Rahman of the same area and Nabi Hossain, 30, from Araihazar upazila, report BSS and UNB. After being informed over phone, police rushed to the spot and recovered two bodies along with another severely injured, said officer-in -charge (OC) of Araihazar police station Anisur Rahman.
The injured died on the way to the upazila health complex, said the police.
A case has been filed with Araihazar police station.
Anisur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Araihazar Police Station, said local people challenged the trio early Thursday seeing their suspicious movement in the area.
As they tried to flee the scene, the locals caught them and gave them a good thrashing, leaving them dead on the spot.
Later, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Narayanganj General Hospital.
