3 killed in Ctg landslide

At least three persons, including a child, were killed in a hill landslide in Rangunia upazila’s South Rajanagar of Chittgaong district on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Md Sakib, 10, workers Amir Ali, 37, and Md Dider, 38. They lived in that area.
A portion of mud from the hill collapsed around 3:00 pm when a group of 10 people were cutting hills in a remote area
 under Dakkshin Rajanagar union, said Imtiaz Bhuiyan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rangunia Police Station.
At that time, Amir Ali and Didar were digging the hill. Amir, Didar and Sakib were buried alive under the mud.
The local people recovered the bodies from the spot, he said.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Rangunia Mohammad Kamal said, the landslide often happens in Chittagong and the districts of Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHTs).
The tragic death took place when the hill collapsed during cutting the hill illegally the UNO said.
In June this year nearly 140 people died including four army men and a number of women and children.
