Staff Reporter :At least three persons were killed in separate road accidents in the city from Friday night to Saturday.The deceased have been identified as Hira Miah (28), Al-Amin (45) and Salah Uddin Mollah Badal (40).At Sayedabad bus terminal, bus driver Hira Miah was killed when a passenger bus hit him on Friday night at 9 pm. He was an employee of Balaka Paribahan plying between Gazipur and Dhaka.Deceased’s assistant Khalil said that Hira was engaged in the repairing work of his bus by the roadside. Just then a bus struckhim, leaving him seriously injured. He was taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead at around 10.00 pm.DMCH police outpost In-Charge, Sub-Inspector Mozammel Haque, informed the incident to Jatrabari Police Station. The body has been sent to DMCH morgue for autopsy.At Mirpur, van driver Al-Amin was killed in the Darus Salaam area on Saturday morning. He lived at Shah Ali area of the city.Witnesses said, Al-Amin was driving his van when a laguna hit him, leaving him injured. He was moved to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH). But he breathed his last there as per doctors’ statement.Nasir Uddin, Sub-Inspector of Darrus Salam police Station said, the driver of laguna has been arrested, while the body has been sent to DMCH morgue for autopsy.In another incident in the New Market area, a pedestrian was killed when he was crossing the Mirpur Road near the city’s Science Laboratory on Saturday. Witnesses said that two passenger buses struck him while overtaking each other at 11.45 pm. Deceased Salah Uddin Mollah is the son of Ibrahim Mollah from Manikganj. He was a printing press employee at Arambag. The students of Dhaka College rushed him to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries at around 01.00 am. The body has been sent to DMCH morgue for autopsy.
