Three people, including a woman, have been killed in separate accidents in different areas of the city.
The victims are: Habib, 30, Habibur Rahman Habu, 13, a garment worker, and Taslima Akhter, 50.
Sources at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) said RMG worker Habib was hit by a speedy truck when he was crossing the road in front of Shah Ali Mazar in Mirpur around 10 pm on Wednesday.
He was taken to the DMCH where the duty doctor declared him dead.
Victim’s neighbour Nazmul Islam said Habib, a worker of a garment factory situated in Hemayetpur on the outskirts of the capital, was struck by the accident while returning home from his workplace.
Habu, travelling in a pickup, received severe injuries when a bus hit the vehicle near Uttara Rab-1 Battalion headquarters around 1:30am today, said Sub-inspector Delwar of Airport Police Station.
He was first taken to a local hospital from where he was shifted to the DMCH. He succumbed to his injuries around 4:00 am, Delwar said.
Meanwhile, Taslima, who used to sell vegetables by Kawla Footbridge, was hit by a speedy train while crossing a level crossing around 11:30 pm on Wednesday.
She was rushed to near by Kurmitola General Hospital and then to the DMCH where she was pronounced dead, said SI Khokon of Kamalapur Railway Police Station.
Taslima used to come to Kawla every day from her village home in Sreepur of Gazipur district for selling vegetables, said Khokon.
