3 killed in 2 bus clashes in capital

A pedestrian died on Friday night hit by a bus at city’s Gulshan area, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Md Shafiqul Islam, 37, son of Md Abdus Salam from Nadda.
Around 11:30 am Shafiqul was first hit by a motorcycle while crossing Cocacola intersection and fell in front of a Victor Classic bus that hit him and ran away, said Faruque Islam, Shafiqul’s cousin quoting the witnesses.
He was rescued by locals with severe injuries in head and was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where around 1:30 am the doctors declared him dead, Faruque said. The accused bus was seized but the driver remains absconding, said Anindya Sarkar, Sub-Inspector of Gulshan police station.
Meanwhile, two people were killed and another were injured in a collision between a bus and a CNG-run auto rickshaw at Khilgaon in the city on Sunday, reports UNB. The deceased were identified as CNG driver Md Swapan, 32, of Burhanuddin upazila of Bhola and his passenger Fatema Begum, 40, of Barura upazila of Cumilla.
The injured are Md Sakib, 17, and Md Shakir, 8.
Locals said the accident occurred when a bus of ‘Asim Paribahan’ hit an auto rickshaw in front of Famous Hospital at Khilgaon around 11am, leaving four people of the auto rickshaw seriously injured.
Later, the injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the doctor declared CNG driver Swapan and its passenger Fatema dead.
Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, said the bodies were kept in the hospital morgue for autopsy.
