Three people have been killed and 12 others went missing as a fishing trawler capsized in the Bay of Bengal under Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
The fishing trawler was capsized when a commercial ship hit it in the sea near Saint Martin Island on Wednesday afternoon. Meanwhile, 12 people were rescued alive.
Assistant Director of the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) Rashedul Alam Khan said, carrying 24 souls, trawler was sunk in the area. On information, naval forces and local fishermen rushed to the spot and rescued 12 fishermen alive.
Search operation is going on to find the missing nine fishermen, he added.
