Three persons were killed and 20 others injured after a night coach of Meghna Paribahon plying on Dhaka-Dashmina route plunged to roadside ditch on Sunday early morning at Rapatty on Barisal-Dhaka highway under Barisal Airport police station.
The Killed passengers were identified as Rustam Ali, 40, of Madaripur and driver, Yazmul, 30, of Dashmina and supervisor, Razu, 20, of Gournadi and helper of the bus, confirmed Shaheduzzaman, Barisal Airport police station in charge.
Among the 20 injured 13 identified as Ruma, 20, Nasir Peyada, 46, Jasimuddin, 26, Kuddus Molla, 29, Makan,50, Chunnu, 30, Mahabub, 26,Sumon, 29, Obaidul, 26, Makhan(2), 35, Mamtaz, 35, Rashed, 35, Mizan, 30, admitted at Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital.
Joynal Mia, Meghna Paribahon regional counter in charge, said the bus (Dhaka-Metro-Ba-02-0530) left Dhaka Saidabad bus terminal with 50 passengers for Dashmina of Patuakhali at 6:00 pm Saturday evening.
Around 4:00 am, left-front wheel tire of the bus punctured and the driver lost control over the vehicle when it reached Rampatty on Barisal-Dhaka highway under Barisal Airport police station.
Then the bus hitting roadside trees fall into ditch and local people, police reaching at the spot started rescue operation.
