A resident of Bhuiyanpara under Khilgaon Police Station in the capital yesterday (Thursday) filed a case against three policemen of the thana on the charge of extortion.
Solaiman Sheikh filed the case against Assistant Sub-Inspector Majnu, Constables Robiul and Anjan Ansar of the police station with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka on Thursday. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Masud Sheikh directed the Detective Branch of Police to submit probe report after investigation. Murshid Hossain, lawyer of the complainant, said to the New Nation that the three policemen snatched two mobile phone sets and Tk 6000 in cash from two pickup van drivers, including Md Solaiman Sheikh, when they were unloading rice of OMS (Open Market Sale) in front of a house at Meradi Sipahibagh in Khilgaon area on May 5.
On May 8, the complainants submitted a written complaint to the Home Secretary and the office of Inspector General of Police (IGP). But as there was no action against the policemen, Solaiman filed the case on Thursday, said lawyer of the complainants.
