Three journalists were beaten at Chittagong University campus by Chhatra League leader Omar Faruq and his allies on Wednesday midnight.
The victim were Joy Das, CU correspondent at the daily Priyo Chhattagram, Miraz Bappi at Dainik Songbad and Mumin Masud. The accused also threatened Chittagong University Jounalists’ Association (CUJA) executive member Fahim Hasan, cu correspondent at the daily Alokito Bangladesh. CUJA filed an allegation to the proctor office in this regard, seeking permanent suspension of Oamr Faruq from the university. Proctor Azgor Chowdhury said, an allegation has been accepted from the CUJA, adding that after investigation we will take proper actions against the involved criminal, who attacked on the journos.
Joy Das, a third year student of journalism department said, Omar Faruq an under graduate student of Islamic History and Culture department under 2013-14 session along with some 10-15 allies attacked on us without any provocation. He also added, Omar Faruq earlier, threatened him to leave the hall.
While trying to contact Omar Faruq, he was not found over phone, as his mobile phone found switched off.
