Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) today claimed to have arrested three alleged members of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Chattogram city.
The arrestees were identified as Ashfaqur Rahman Ayan alias Arif, 26, of Noakhali, Rony Ahmed, 31, of Sirajganj, and Ripon Mandal, 30, of Rajbari, a RAB official.
They were also fugitive accused in two separate cases filed with Siddhirganj and Bandar police stations in Narayanganj under Anti-Terrorism Act, Jasim Uddin, senior assistant director of Rab-11 said in a press statement today.
Tipped off, a Rab team from Narayanganj arrested the trio from Halishahar area of Chattogram city around 11:00pm yesterday, he said.
During the drive, a laptop, extremist books and leaflets were recovered from their possession, the Rab official added.
