3 JCD, ICS men beaten up by DU BCL activists

The activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), Dhaka University (DU) unit on Monday clobbered three followers of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) on the university campus. They received injuries in many parts of their bodies.
They were sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for treatment.
They have been identified as Russell Ahmed Sajal, a masters student of Peace and Conflict Department, Masum Billah and Ahmadullah Siddique, masters students of Islamic Studies Department.
Russell Ahmed Sajal had a class in his department and he went there for it. Then suddenly some BCL activists of Hazi Muhammad Mohsin Hall
unit started to beat him when he came to the Central Library of the university at about 2pm. He received severe injuries in his head. Later, Shahbagh Thana Police rescued him and sent to DMCH.
There was a reception programme at the Islamic Studies Department. Masum Billah and Ahmadullah Siddique attended it. Hearing the news, some BCL activists from Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall went there and started to beat them. At one stage, the BCL activists forced them to leave the programme and clubbed them. They also brought the ISC activists to proctor office and again they beat them in the office. Later, the university Proctor Professor AM Amzad managed to stop the BCL activists and sent ISC followers to DMCH.
Professor AM Amzad said, “We sent the injured students to DMCH for treatment. We are looking into the matter.”
