Rapid Action Battalion claimed to have arrested three Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity activists from Hathazari upazila of Chittagong on Saturday with Tk 11 lakh allegedly amassed through extortion on Sunday.
The arrestees, Dhana Bikash Chakma, 60, of Khagrachhari, Prem Ranjan Chakma, 32 of Bandarban, and Rubel Babu Tanchangya, 19, of Rangamati, were arrested at a check post at Hathazari bus stand.
Rab-7 disclosed the arrest in a press conference at its headquarters.
Miftah Uddin Ahmed, commanding officer of Rab-7, said on information they searched a microbus at the check post and seized Tk 11.10 lakh from the trio. The money was collected by intimidating people, alleged the official.
He claimed, during interrogation, the three identified themselves as activists of Jana Sanghati.
The process of filing a case is underway.
