A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed among three institutes to form an institutional platform and collaborate research initiative of clinical science across various health disciplines, including non communicable diseases (NCD). Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), the British Medical Journal (BMJ) and icddr,b signed the MoU at BSMMU conference room in city’s Shahbagh area, said a press release.
The partnership among the three institutes would work on reducing knowledge gap and strengthening capacities for conducting scientific research at the national institutions of the country.
This collaboration will also help in creating next generation researchers to tackle unforeseen public health challenges of the next century. The agreement include providing facilities and share of knowledge and experience, help conducting clinical research training, organise workshops and scientific seminars and help prepare research protocols and conduct scientific research.
It also raise research funding and finally help to publish and circulate papers, periodicals, books, publications and other literary works. BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Professor Kamrul Khan, Executive Director of icddr,b Prof John D Clemens, Deputy Executive Director of icddr,b Syed Monjurul Islam, Head Initiative for Non Communicable Diseases of icddr,b Dr Aliya Naheed and BMJ Managing Director (India and South Asia) Prashant Mishra spoke at the programme.
