Three workers received burn injuries when a Gum (Glue) factory was gutted at BISIC industrial area in the city’s Khalurghat industrial area at 11 am on Wednesday.
The injured workers are Nipur Chowdhury, Nikhil Das and Bidyut Barua. The injured were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital. Among the injured workers, the condition of Nipur Chowdhury was stated to be critical.
Fire service sources said the fire originated from overheating of chemicals at the Ready Made Gum (Glue) industry Ltd in the city’s Khalurghat industrial area at about 11 this morning.
Four fire fighting units from two stations of the Fire Service rushed to the spot and managed to extinguish the fire around 1 pm.
Valuables worth about TK 10 lakh were gutted in the fire said the sources adding that the goods worth about TK one crore were saved by the fire fighters.
