Police arrested three persons including a murder accused and two drug peddlers on Monday after launching drives at different two places under Daulatpur police station in the city.
SI Md Sazzadur Rahman, Second officer of Daulatpur police station told this correspondent over cell phone, on secret information, a special team of Daulatpur police station raided at Moddhyo Danga area and arrested the drug peddler Md Shahin ,resident of the same area.
By conducting operation at Islambag Pal Para area, police also arrested a drug peddler named Golam Rabbani alias Bitu, son of late Idris Sheikh of Palpara area, SI Sazzad added.
Police also arrested another person who was accused of a murder case named Md. Asad, resident of Daulatpur Muhsin intersection, SI Sazzad further added.
SI Sazzad further said, Asad and Bitu are warranted accused in murder and scuffle cases, respectively.
Local people said, Golam Rabbani alias Bitu has been committing drug peddling since long and he is a much-talked drug peddler in the area who had threatened a journalist named Md. Ruhul Amin of a local Bangla Newspaper named “The Daily Probaha”, published from Khulna.
Journalist Ruhul Amin told this correspondent that during the period of the former OC of Daulatpur police station SM Anwar Hossain, due to publishing a news against the drug peddler Bitu, he became angry with him (J) , made an altercation and gave him (J) threat of committing harm to him. News regarding this occurrence were published at several local Bangla dailies, Ruhul Amin added.
Drives against drug peddlers and terrorists will be continued in the locality, Officer-in-charge (OC) Md. Humayun Kabir said.
