S M Saiful Islam, judge of Anti Women and Children Repression Tribunal, Bagerhat, in a judgment delivered on Tuesday, convicted 3 persons including a couple and sentenced them to suffer rigorous imprisonment for life on the charge of committing rape on a poor girl student of Class-V. The convicted persons are Azibor Rahman (50), son of one Jonab ali of village Udankhali under Kachua Upazila in Bagerhat district, his wife Jahanara Begum (43) and Yusuf Ali (52), son of one Abdur Rahman of village Badokhali under Sadar Upazila of the district.
The prosecution story, in short, is that on July 07, 2007 convicted Azibor Rahman allured the poor girl student with the assurance of giving her some food and took her to his own house where he (Azibor) and Yusuf Ali committed rape on the girl forcibly. Jahanara Begum co-operated them to do so. After returning home the victim girl disclosed the matter to her mother. In this connection the maternal uncle of the victim registered a case with Kachua PS under Anti Women and Children Repression Act against those persons.
Police investigated into the matter and submitted a charge sheet to the court on November 27 in the same year.
