Three human traffickers were injured in a gunfight with police at Shikri frontier under Sadar upazila last night.
The injured were Abdul Alim, 32, son of Sirajul Islam of Bakchara village, Abdus salam, 45, son of Mafizuddin of Kasempur village under Sadar upazila and Ziaur Rahman, 40, son of Abu Bakar of Madyabarisal village under Morrelganj upazila in Bagerhat district.
On a tip-off that the gang were preparing for human trafficking, a team of police conducted a drive in the area, said Officer-in-charge of Sadar thana Emdadul Haque.
Sensing presence of the law enforcers they opened fire on them, prompting the police personnel to retaliate that triggered a gunfight, leaving three injured with bullets.
Three police personnel also injured in the gunfight.
The injured were admitted to Sadar Hospital.
