A three-hour-old male child was found alive in front of multistoried Pubali Bank headquarters in capital’s Motijheel area on Tuesday noon, police and hospital sources said.
Witnesses said, a cleaner named Ayesha Khatun saw the bloodstained newborn in front of the gate-side of the Pubali Bank head office at about 12 noon and later carried the baby to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
“The baby is quite okay . . . it saw the light of the world only three hours ago,” Dr Sumon of DMCH told BSS after supervising the baby’s health condition.
Police detained the cleaner for interrogation.
The baby is undergoing treatment at Room No 211 of the hospital.
