3 held with VoIP equipment, Yaba tablets in city

Two separate teams of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested three persons with a huge amount of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) equipment and a thousand of Yaba tablets in the city’s Mirpur and Kamalapur areas on Thursday, RAB and GRP sources said.The RAB’s Legal and Media Wing Director Mufti Mahmud Khan said that a special team of RAB-4 raided Paikpara of Mirpur around 9:30am following a secret information and arrested two persons and recovered the VoIP equipment. The arrested persons have been identified as Badrul Alam, 35, and Najmul Hasan, 35. A case was lodged with the Mirpur Model Police Station in this connection, the RAB official said. In another incident, the GRP’s special team arrested a passenger from Turna Nishitha Inter-City train at the Kamalapur Railway Station around 8:00am. The arrested passenger has been identified as Selim alias Shahin, 38, hailing from Chittagong, the GRP sources said.  Kamalapur Railway Station’s Officer in-Charge (OC) Abdul Majid confirmed the matter and said that a team of GRP searched the passenger’s body on suspection and recovered one thousand pieces of Yaba tablets from his possession.  The arrested person is being interrogated in this connection, he said.
