Government Railway Police (GRP) in a drive arrested three persons with 32 gold bars weighing five kilograms worth around Tk 2.30 crore and 1,500 pieces of Yaba tablet at Kamalapur Railway Station in the capital on Saturday morning.
The arrested men are Jhutan Biswas, 21, Rahul, 28, and Yusuf, 48, said Abdul Majid, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kamalapur Railway Police Station.
The OC said, “On secret information, a team of GRP raided Turna Nishita Inter-City train around 8:30am when they were getting down from the train. The law enforcers recovered 32 gold bars, searching the bodies of Jhutan and Rahul.”
They also recovered 1,500 pieces of Yaba tablet after searching Yusuf’s body, the police official said.
The detained persons confessed their involvement in gold and drug smuggling, the police official said
A case was filed in this connection with Kamalapur Railway Police Station, he said.
