Law enforcers on Saturday arrested three people along with 2,246 smuggled handsets at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital.
The arrestees are Mohammad Sujon, 49, son of Aktar Hossain of Faridpur, Shahriar Hossain, 33, son of Md Dulal Hossain of Demra in the capital, and Md Rafiqul Islam, 27, son of Abdur Rahman of Mymensingh.
Alamgir Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Airport Armed Police (Operations and Media), said the trio landed at the airport from a flight coming from China in the morning. They were challenged while passing through the canopy-2 of the arrival lounge around 8 am.
After searching their baggage, the law enforcers found 2,246 mobile phone sets of different brands, including iPhone, Samsung, Xiaomi and Nokia, worth Tk 3 crore, the Addl SP said.
