UNB, Dhaka :
Customs officials at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital seized 101 gold bars weighting about 12.6 kilograms and arrested three young men in this connection on Saturday morning.
The arrested were identified as Sabuj Miah,35, Joynal,35, and Roman,22.
Ishrat Jahan Rumi, assistant commissioner (Customs), said the trio,
domestic passengers, landed at the airport from a flight (BG052) of Bangladesh Biman Airways from Dubai via Sylhet at about 8:49 am.
When they were crossing the domestic terminal of the airport, customs officials, following secret information, challenged them.
Later, the customs officials conducted a search at about 9:30am and recovered the gold bars from the belts of two passengers and from inside sandals and shoes kept in the luggage of one.
