Three people have been arrested in connection with the gang-rape of a madrasa student in Narayanganj’s Araihazar upazila.
According to the case filed over the incident, one Nazrul Islam, who was allegedly in an affair with the girl, tried to rape her when she met him on the evening of October 12.
Quoting the case statement Nazrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Araihazar Police Station, said Nazrul’s
elder brother Badal Mia (37) and their neighbour Md Muchha (24) chased Nazrul away saying they would take the girl home but then the duo raped the eighth-grader.
On Thursday night, the victim and her mother went to the police station and lodged a complaint. The three were arrested during a raid in Brahmandi area which went on from Thursday night to Friday morning, the OC said.
This morning, the victim’s mother filed a case against the arrestees with the police station, he said. In the primary interrogation, the accused confessed to raping the girl, he added.
