Three people, including the chairman of an agro company, have been arrested on charge of conning small entrepreneurs out of Tk 10 crore through fraudulent means.
The arrestees were identified as Swapnil Agro Service Limited chairman Salman alias Sunny, 32, his wife Rawshanara, 28, and nephew Abu Salem Rasel, 23.
Acting on a tip-off, police in a drive arrested them from Saidpur Airport on Monday while they were trying to flee abroad, said Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Detective Branch (DB) police, at a press conference on Tuesday noon.
Sunny allured some farmers of Dinajpur, Thakurgaon and Panchagarh to start lucrative turkey bird farming.
He sold baby turkey birds to them and after three months he took back mature birds from them but did not pay them.
Later, all of them went into hiding, the OC added.
