3 held for releasing obscene photos

Members of Detective Branch (DB) of police early yesterday arrested three people, including two students, from Ramzan Ali Haat in Raozan upazila of the district for posting indecent photographs of a girl on Facebook, a social networking site.
 The arrested were identified as Alamgir Hossain Shaon,22, a student of Hazera Taju College; Imran, 21, a student of Chittagong College; and Muslim Uddin, 24, owner of a mobile recharging shop in Raozan. Police sources said Shaon opened a Facebook account through editing and distorting photographs of a student of Chittagong Government Women College. He began posting offensive posts and sending friend requests through the Facebook account named ‘Nil Akasher Pori’. Shaon and Imran demanded Tk 3 lakh from the female student, an acquaintance of both of them. She initially sent them Tk5,000 through bKash, mobile money transfer service.
 Sahon and Imran later began pasting indecent posters of the girl on walls in different areas of the city as she refused to give them money any further. The victim later filed a case accusing the duo with Khulshi police station.
When contacted, Santosh Kumar Chakma, sub-inspector of DB (CMP), told The Independent that two cases were filed against the trio under ICT Act and for extortion.
