At least three female students have reportedly been raped in Dhaka, Bagerhat and Narayanganj districts, police and local sources said.
A female student of class four was raped by a man in Chunkutia area under Dakkhin Keraniganj upazila in Dhaka district on Sunday night.
The nine-year-old victim was admitted to One Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College and
Hospital (DMCH) for medical test, said Mozammel Haque, Sub-Inspector (SI) and In-Charge of Police Outpost at the hospital.
Quoting the victim’s father, the police official said that a 35-year-old man raped the girl in jungle beside the road when the girl was returning from her school after attending coaching class.
The victim’s father admitted the girl at DMCH after hearing the news of rape, the SI said. A case was filed in this connection, he said.
Meanwhile, another female student of class nine has been repeatedly raped by her neighbour in Uttar Razapur village in Sharankhola upazila of Bagerhat district. A medical test of the girl was conducted in the District Sadar General Hospital. The victim also gave confessional statement about the rape incident.
The victim’s maternal aunt filed a case in this connection under Women and Children Repression Act, said Rezaul Karim, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sharankhola Police Station.
The accused are Solaiman Munsi, 25, his father Abdul Bareq Munsi, mother Saleha Begum and brother-in-law Moshiur Mir.
Police are trying to arrest the accused, the OC said.
Victim’s mother said, “Her daughter has been repeteatedly raped by Solaiman in last two years when her husband and she went out of house for work. Taking the chance, Solaiman raped her daughter and threatened death if she disclosed the matter to anyone. At on stage, the victim become pregnant and the matter was exposed. She went to Solaiman’s house for marriage with Solaiman. But they rejected the appeal of the victim’s mother.”
Instead, Solaiman married another girl and left the home to avoid marrying the pregnant victim, she said.
“After filing the case, we have received death threat several times from some unknown mobile phone numbers,” she claimed.
On the other hand, a five-year-old school girl was raped by a youth at Kamrangirchar village under Araihazar upazila in Narayanganj district Sunday afternoon. Local sources said that youth Sohel raped the girl at her house when she was alone around 5:00pm.
The girl was sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for treatment.
Araihazar Police Station’s Sub-Inspector Ahsan Ullah rejected the allegation and said that he did not receive any complaint about the rape.
