Law enforcers with the help of fishery department operating drives at Abupur area under Muladi Upazila from Thursday early hours to late morning fined 3 , seized 1.5 lakh meters current net and 50 maunds Jatka.
Sub -Inspector Shafikul Islam, in-charge of Barisal River Police Station, said river police in assistances with district Fisheries Department operating drives on Meghna, Arial Kha and Kala Badar Rivers recoversed those.
The detained three fined were produced before a mobile court on Thursday noon at Barisal
Rumana Akhtar, magistrate of the court, fined each of three fishermen fined Tk 5,000.
Later, the seized one lakh metres current nets worth Tk. 20 lakhs were burnt and Jatka( hilsa fries) were distributed among the distressed people and orphanages by order of the court, said Bimal Chandra Das, district fishery (H) officer.
