Three farmers were killed in lightning strikes in three upazilas of Gaibandha on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Hasmat Ali of Chithulia village of Sadar Upazila, Jadu Mia of Taluk Rahimapur in Gobindaganj and Ansar Ali of East Algar Char of Fulchhari.
Harun Mia, entrepreneur of Mollarchar UP Digital Center, said Hasmat Ali was sowing jute seeds in the field amid rain. At that time, lightning struck on him and he died on the spot.
Darbosta UP chairman of Gobindganj Shariful Islam said Jadu Mia was working on the land next to his house. Suddenly lightning struck on him and died on the spot. Fulchhari’s Erendabari UP chairman Azizur Rahman said Ansar Ali was cutting grass for cows in the field next to his house at noon and died by lightning strike.
