A couple and their daughter died after being electrocuted in Boaira village under Gazipur union in Khaliajuri upazila of Netrokona on Wednesday noon.
The deceased have been identified as Aibul Mia (48), son of Md. Kitab Ali, his wife Abeda Akhter( 40)and their daughter Pinki Akhter (22). A one and a half year old child named Tasia Akhter was injured in the incident and admitted to Khaliajuri upazila hospital.
According to Gazipur Union Chairman Athaur Rahman and Police said , the houses are being constructed for the government shelter project in Boira ( Latifpur) area. There this afternoon, Kitab Ali was watering the walls of a newly built semi-finished house with the help of an electric motor. He inadvertently touched the electric wire at around 3 pm. When his wife Abeda Akhter and daughter Pinky Akhter went to save him, they were both electrocuted. Along with them, baby Tasia was also electrocuted. Later, the locals rescued them and took them to Khaliajuri upazila Hospital where duty doctors declared all three dead.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Khaliajuri Police Station Mojibur Rahman told the New Nation that ‘I have come to Netrokona for official work. Police have been sent to the spot after receiving the news.
UNO in Khaliajuri AHM Ariful Islam said the incident was very tragic. The upazila administration will provide financial assistance for the burial of the three deceased.
