Police arrested three fake DB men from Rupdia Bazar of Sadar upazila in the district on Sunday night.
The arrestees were identified as Asaduzzaman, 30, son of Nuruzzaman, a resident of Khrishnagar village; Imran Hossain, son of Arafat Mallick, a resident of Hariyadara village of Jhikargachha upazila; and Royel, 27, a private car driver.
Police said, addressing them as members of the Detective Branch (DB) of police, the trio demanded TK 2.5 lakh from local trader Tariqul Islam, who runs a shop at Rupdia Bazar area in the night.
At one stage, other shop owners of the Bazar came
to Tariqul’s shop and asked them about their identity. Sensing danger, the fake DB men tried to flee from the scene, but the shop owners managed to catch them and handed them over to police members at Narendrapur police camp. Police also recovered three mobile phones and an identity card of Bangladesh Army from their possession.
