Three Awami League men including a murder case accused were elected unopposed as hairmen at Arabpur, Deyara and Narendrapur union councils under Jessore Sadar upazila as their contestants BNP candidates withdrew their candidatures.
The elected are Shaharul Islam at Arabpur, Anisur Rahman Anis at Deyara and Modasser Rahman at Narendrapur union councils. Of them, Shaharul Islam is the main accused in Bangladesh Chhatra League leader Ripon Hossain murder. BNP nominated chairman candidates Sirajul Islam, Enamul and Abdus Salam withdrew their candidatures on Monday.
The BNP, in press conference, held at Jessore Press Club on Monday noon told that there was not atmosphere of holding of free, fair and impartial election. Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, general secretary, Jessore district unit BNP read out the written statement.
