Three meritorious students of Law Department of Dhaka University (DU) were awarded “Advocate Wazair Faruq Memorial Scholarship” for securing the highest GPA in Law of Contract course in 1st year (Hon’s) final examinations.
The recipients of scholarship are- Psymhe Wadud, Md. Azhar Uddin Bhuiyan and Jannatul Ferdous.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed the scholarship and crest among the students as the chief guest at a function at VC’s Lounge on the campus.
Presided over by the Chairman of Law Department Professor Dr Borhan Uddin Khan, the function was addressed , among others, by the Dean of the Law Faculty Professor Dr Md Rahmat Ullah, Professor Dr Mizanur Rahman, Mrs Taslima Yesmin and son of late Advocate Wazair Faruq Barrister Md Imtiaz Faruq.
Acting Registrar of the university Md Enamuzzaman conducted the function.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique paid glowing tributes to late Advocate Wazair Faruq.
Arefin said Advocate Wazair Faruq was a student of Dhaka University English Department and earned reputation as a distinguished lawyer in the country.
He was also a Senate Member of the university and contributed much to the university, the VC added.
