3 DU students get ‘Nuzhat Jahangir’ scholarship

Three meritorious students of Dhaka University (DU) were given “Nuzhat Jahangir Memorial Trust Fund” scholarship on Thursday for their outstanding results in BSS (honours) examinations-2013.
The scholarship winners are Mahtab Uddin (Economics Department), Israt Jahan Aimun (Sociology Department) and Ivtesam Afrin (Anthropology Department).
Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique gave scholarship to the winners as the chief guest at a function at Senate Bhaban of the university.
Social Sciences Faculty Dean Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed spoke on the occasion as the special guest with DU Treasurer and Trustee Board Chairman of “Nuzhat Jahangir Memorial Trust Fund” Prof Kamal Uddin in the chair. Former home minister Dr Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir delivered the welcome address on the occasion.
Paying rich tributes to Nujhat Jahangir, the Vice-Chancellor said she (Nuzhat Jahangir) has an important role in flourishing of education in the country.
He urged the students to follow the life and works of Nujhat Jahangir to make their marks for the betterment of the country.
While addressing Dr Mohiuddin Khan, brother-in-law of Nuzhat Jahangir, said the trust fund was established at the university for flourishing of wisdom.
He said most of his family members were involved with teaching at the university and still now.
Mohiuddin said his family will continue their cooperation to strengthen the relations with the university.
