Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested three suspected drug traders along with 75kg hemp from Kuratoli Bazar under Khilkhet Police Station on Monday night.
The arrestees are: Md Shahidul Islam, 35, hailing from Jhalakathi, Md Humayun, 45, and Md Jamal Hossain, 36, hailing from Brahmanbaria.
Being informated that a consignment of hemp was being taken to the capital from Brahmanbaria on a pick-up van, a team of Rab set up a check-post in the area around 9:30pm, said a press release.
When the pick-up reached near the chec-kpost, the team gave its driver a signaled to stop around 10:40 pm.
Sensing danger, the drug traders tried to flee the scene.
However, the team managed to detain them and recovered the hemp from inside the pickup van.
