An elderly man and a woman died of cold-related afflictions in Kapilmuni union of Paikgaccha upazila on Monday night.
The deceased were identified as Monika Rani Biswas, 102, and Krishno Chandra Biswas, 75.
Parvej Alam, a union parishad member, confirmed their death.
Bagerhat Correspondent adds: A day labour named Moslem Ali (50) died due to the biting of severe cold in the afternoon Thursday while he was working in a foreign ship anchored at Harbaria area of Mongla port. The deceased hailed from Diganta colony of Kabarsthan Road, Mongla port town under Mongla Upazila in Bagerhatg district, according to a delayed report received here. The deceased had been working as labour under M/S. Lucky Trading of the port town.
Fellow friends of the victim said that in the afternoon while he was working in the foreign ship laden with wheat and anchored at buoy No. 8 in Harbaria area in the Pashur channel of the port he fell ill due to the biting of severe cold and expired within a short time. The dead body of Moslem Ali was taken to his residence at 10 pm. He was buried in Mongla Pourashava grave yard on Friday after Jumma prayer.
