At least three passengers of a private car were killed and four others injured when a private car collided with an intercity express train on its way from Dhaka to Dinajpur in Ghoraghat Railghunti area under Birampur upazila of the district on Wednesday morning.
One of the deceased was identified as Hafizur Rahman Shah, son of Halim Shah, resident of Modhopara area under Parbatipur upazila of the district. Identities of the other two victims could not be known immediately, said Birampur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC), Suman Kumar Mahanta.
Citing eyewitnesses, the OC said the private car was heading towards Hili in Hakimpur upazila of Dinajpur from Parbatipur upazila around 7.30 am . At that time the express train hit the private car, leaving three people dead on the spot and four others injured, reports BSS.
The injured were admitted to Birampur Upazila Health Complex, the OC added.
A case was filed in this connection.
