Three deer poachers were arrested along with a mechanized boat (trawler) and deer catching traps by the forest guards from Kachikhali sanctuary forest under Sharankhola Forest Range in the Eastern Division of Sundarbans on Sunday night.
The arrestees were sent to the court at Bagerhat district headquarters on Monday morning. They are Miraj (30), Md. Musa (25) and Md. Hakim (20). They all hail from Gabbaria and Tafalbaria villages under Patharghata Upazila in Barguna district.
Joynal Abedin, Ranger of Shrankhola forest range told, forest guards of Kachikhali sanctuary with the help of coastguards searched a trawler found in suspicious movement in the Bay of Bengal near at Pakkhidiarchar area and recovered 50 deer trapping nets, fish catching nets and Sharp knives and arrested 3 poachers from it at Sunday night.
In this connection Sadek Mahmud, forest officer of Kachikhali sanctuary registered a case with Sharankhola PS under Forest Act as the plaintiff.
