3 deals for Metro Rail signed

The government has signed three deals with two firms-Italian-Thai Development Public Company and Sinohydro Corporation Ltd JV – for the work of the Metro Rail depot and the construction of a viaduct and nine stations from Uttara to Agargaon.
Metro Rail project director Mofazzal Hossain and Towat Chai Sukhi, on behalf of the two companies, signed the agreement at a city hotel in presence of Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.
“The construction work on the Metro Rail project has already started and the work will be done in eight packages. The deals were signed for packages 2, 3 and 4 involving Tk 6,000 crore,” the minister said after the signing ceremony. Under the package-2 project, the works of the deport area will be done at a cost of Tk 1,596 crore.
Under the project, a stabling yard, a storehouse for repairing train and overhaul goods, workshop, operation control centre, train inspection, generator and electrical building will be built, said the Metro Rail project director. Besides, under the packages 3 and 4, a 12km viaduct and nine stations from Uttara North to Agargaon involving Tk 4,230 crore will be constructed.
