With the theme “Appreciating teachers, improving their status” a three-day teachers’ conference-2016, on the occasion of the World Teachers’ Day, started in the district on Tuesday.
The Prime Minister Office’s Access to Information (A2I) project and with the help of the Ministry for Primary and Mass Education and Cox’s Bazar district administration jointly hosted the conference at the Biyam Auditorium in the district.
A total of 350 teachers from all over the country who have special contribution to providing multi-media education, digital content in their classrooms and have excellent contribution as teachers are participating in the conference. Of them 200 would be awarded as best teachers, informed A2I Project Expert Naimuzzaman Mukta while he was addressing a meeting in Deputy Commissioner’s office at noon.
The conference has been organised like previous years to encourage teachers to provide multi- media teaching techniques, ensuring utilisation of information technology for teaching, exchanging ideas, improving professional standards and contributing better to the nation, he added.
Teacher’s Conference Using ICT for Education, Multimedia Classroom, Teacher Led Digital Content Development and Teachers Portal are the significant innovations of a2i programme. Ministry of Education and Ministry of Primary and Mass Education introduced multimedia classrooms at primary secondary level school across the country.
A2i had trained a good number of teachers on developing digital content for multimedia classroom. Trained teachers put their contents in teacher’s portal based on the pedagogy, user rating, and number of downloads of content, he elaborated.
Among others, the meeting was also addressed, among others, by Deputy Commissioner of the district Md Ali Hossain, e-learning Expert of A2I Project Prof Faruque Ahmed, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Shaiful Islam Majumder, Acting District Education Officer Ram Mohan Ray and District Primary Education Officer ABM Siddiqur Rahman.
