3-day green PPP convention, expo begins Oct 4

Bangladesh Infrastructure Finance Fund Limited (BIFFL) will organise its three-day ‘Green PPPP Convention and Expo-2018’ in the capital from October 4 to 6 and in Chattogram from October 5 to 7.
The exposition, second of its kind, is aimed at promoting green and energy efficient technology and Public Private Partnership (PPP) for sustainable infrastructure development in the country.
The announcement of the mega event was made at a press conference arranged by the BIFFL on Thursday afternoon at the National Press Club in the city.
BIFFL executive director and CEO SM Formanul Islam, MAX Group executive director Kazi Yaminur Rashid Turjo, South Bangla Agriculture & Commerce Bank Ltd vice president Asirul Haque, among others, spoke at the programme.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith will inaugurate the programme as the chief guest while Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud, Bangladesh Bank governor Fazle Kabir and Finance Division additional secretary Md Ekhlasur Rahman will also attend the convention.
The organisers said the objective of the convention and expo is to ensure the widespread use of green technologies in energy-intensive industries.
This year, around 100 organisations from Germany, Japan, China and host Bangladesh will display technologies and products including green brick, energy efficiency, renewable energy, green building/industry materials, waste treatment technology, etc.
Speaking at the press conference, Mr Formanul said BIFFL has so far signed deals to finance a total of 35 development projects while funds were released for around 25 projects.
Responding to a question from the journalists, he said BIFFL has approved loans worth Tk 35 billion, of which around Tk 23 billion was disbursed for different projects.
