The first-ever three-day long field level training exercise of Disaster Response Exercise and Exchange (DREE), a civil-military disaster preparedness and response initiative program, concluded in Chittagong Naval auditorium here on Thursday.
Over 200 civil and military participants from 41 organizations took part at the three day long exercise of DREE at the Navy Auditorium. Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain addressed the concluding function as the chief guest.The minister, in his concluding speech, said Bangladesh is capable of facing all kinds of natural disasters.
The government under the leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina procured modern and sophisticated equipment to face post disaster situations like cyclones, flood, drought and tremor. The field-level training exercise reviewed and evaluated Chittagong city earthquake response plans, logistical and medical emergency scenarios and current gaps between plans and procedures.
