Three college girls have died after the bus they were travelling in collided with another at Rajshahi’s Paba Upazila. Fourteen more have been injured in the accident in front of the Katakhali Jute Mills around 1am Sunday. The dead have been identified as ‘Tania’, ‘Mahmuda’ and ‘Sharmin’. The bus, ironically named ‘Lucky’, was carrying female students of the Rajshahi College. It fell into a ditch after crashing head-on with a Rajshahi-bound bus belonging to the Islam Paribahan on the Rajshahi-Dhaka road, said Rajshahi University Fire Service Team Leader Mostafizur Rahman. Five units of the fire service took part in the rescue work. Seventeen passengers were extricated from the bus and sent to hospital but three of them were already dead. “Three among those brought here have died,” said Dr BK Dam, head of the Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital’s Orthopaedic Department.– bdnews24.com
