Three children drowned in a canal in Noyabazar area of Choromba union under Lohagara upazila of the district on Friday.
The dead were identified as Irfan Hossain Hridoy, 9, son of Mohammad Ali, Sabbir Ahammed, 9, son of Jasim Uddin and Naimul Islam, 5, son of Nurul Alam. All hailed from Choromba area of the upazila.
The three children drowned in the Jongchhari Khal when the curious children went there to see a dredging machine near the hilly canal around 12pm, said Mohammad Shahjahan, Officer-in-charge (OC) of Lohagara police station. Later, locals recovered the bodies from the canal, the OC added.
