At least five people, including three children, have drowned in Chittagong and Tangail districts.
In Chittagong, three children of a family drowned in a pond at Bha Fakirer Mazar area in Boalkhali upazila on Wednesday.
Md Ali, a member of Sripur-Kharandwip union parishad, said Sanam and Sher-three-years-old daughters of expatriate Harun, and their cousin Anju, 3, daughter of Harun’s brother Farukh, met the watery burial while playing near the pond around 3 pm.
Seeing the children floating in the pond, locals took them to Boalkhali Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared them
dead. In Tangail, two teenage boys were found dead at a water body at Deula in the district town on Wednesday. The deceased-Amanullah Saikat, 11, son of Mohammd Ataullah of Shakhipur upazila, and Nahin Al Nur, 10, son of Shahinur Rahman of Jordhighi village in Madhupur upazila, remained missing since Tuesday night. Locals spotted the bodies of Saikat and Nahin in the water body today and informed police who recovered those around 1 pm.
