Police filed three separate cases with the Chowkbazar thana in city in connection with the arrest of Shibir activists and recovery of huge arms and ammos from Govt Chittagong College and Govt Mohsin College campus.
It is mentionable that these two colleges are being dominated by Islami Chattra Shibir, a student front of Jamaat-e-Islami. Sub-Inspector of DB police Md. Rashel filed a case accusing 21 persons including President and Secretary of Shibir of Chittagong College unit. DB police filed two cases in connection with arrests and recovery of arms accusing about 25-30 persons.
Additional Deputy Police Commissioner of City DB office SM Tanveer Arafat told that three separate cases have been lodged with the Chowkbazar thana .
Out of the total some 35 were accused in these cases while the remaining 47 were release after interrogation, sources said.
Sources said that DB police picked up them during a nightlong drive conducted there from Tuesday night to early Wednesday.
During the drives, police also recovered a AK-22 semi-automatic rifle, a three knot three (.303) rifle, three pistols, three single barrel guns, three country-made guns, a double-barrel rifle, five rocket flares, 61 cartridges and 25 rounds of bullets.
