Anti-corruption Commission members apprehended three officials including Divisional Engineer(Phones) Pradip Das of BTCL of Chittagong while taking bribe money from the officials of the BTCL, Nandankanan Divisional office yesterday afternoon.
ACC officials led by Deputy Asstt. Director Maniklal Das conducted the raid and recovered bribe money of Tk.1.49 lakh from his official cabinet after searching. ACC sources said Head asstt of BTCL Giasuddin and Telephone operator Humayun Kabir demanded bribe of Tk.20 thousand from a retired Sub-Asstt. Engineer Abul Kashem for processing his pension file . As such Giasuddin and Humayun Kabir was arrested red-handed while taking bribe from the retired engineer Abul Kashem.
Later, searching the office room of Head asstt. Giasuddin recovered cash Tk.80 thousand and saving certificates for Tk.83 lakh after the name of his wife. Later ACC official searched the steel cabinet of Divisional engineer Pradip Das where recovered Tk.1.49 lakh in cash and a land deed of Tk.18 lakh so purchased in the name of Giasuddin and Humayun Kabir .
During the raid, Executive Magistrate of the district administration Md.Sabbir Rahman Sani was also present.
