Bodies of three unidentified people, including a child, were found floating in the Surma River at Moglabazar Lamakazi in the city on Friday.
Police said locals first spotted the bodies of two people floating at the point in the afternoon.
Later they also saw another body, of a child, floating in the river after some time.
Being informed, police rushed to the spot but the bodies drifted away before they started work to recover those, said Akter Hossain, officer-in-charge of Jalalabad Police Station.
