Loan fraud: 3 BASIC Bank officials put on remand

Court Correspondent :A Dhaka court on Monday granted six days’ remand each in two cases to the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) for quizzing three sacked BASIC Bank officials in connection with loan fraud.Magistrate Tasruzzaman of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order dismissing bail petitions of the three accused. The three officials were arrested on Thursday and later, they were produced before courtthat sent them to jail. The accused persons are the bank’s former Deputy Managing Directors Fazlus Sobhan, Md Selim and Assistant General Manager Shiper Ahmed.The ACC had prosecuted 26 officers of the bank in September last year on the allegations of helping several business houses to secure disbursement of loan amounting about Tk 45 billion through forgery. Of the 56 cases, the three officials are accused in most of the 56 cases filed for the forgery.
