Three Bangladeshi nationals were beaten to death at Khowai town in India’s Tripura state close to the border in Chunarughat upazila of the district on Saturday night.
The deceased were identified as Siddique Ali,55, Anwar Miah,40 and Omar Ali,45, all hailed from Gazipur union of Chunarughat upazila.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Srimangal sector commander Col. Tariqul Islam Khan some Indian villagers beat the trio to death suspecting them as cattle lifters when they were returning home with cattle.
A company commander-level meeting is being held along the border, he said.
Ex-chairman of Gazipur union Jahangir Khan said they were killed in a lynch-mob attack at Khowai town of the Indian state.
