Chittagong Metropolitan Police arrested three alleged arms traders from city’s Akbar Shah area yesterday.
The arrested were identified as Mohammad Selim, 20 of Cox’s Bazar, Mosharraf Hossain, 42 of city’s Akbar Shah area and Jahirul Islam Manik, 25 of Noakhai district. Police also recovered two country-made single barrel guns, one single shooter gun and two country-made light guns (LG) from their possessions.
Based on secrete information, a team of Akbar Shah Thana police arrested them from near Paharika Filling Station area of Akbar Shah thana with the arms, said Swadip Kumar Das, Officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station.
The arrested in primary interrogation confessed that they were waiting there to sell the rams, the OC said adding that a case was filled in this connection.
